The
Stargazer Foundation,
a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit foundation, operates Stargazer.org -
An Online Service for Social Good. Using advanced Web-based and mobile
services and capabilities, Stargazer empowers and enables individuals,
groups, organizations, and communities to improve safety and enhance learning.
Stargazer provides a socially conscious, positive, and enriching Web presence
that can help people improve their lives.
Our Mission is to harness the power of technology for social good. We seek to improve the human condition by leveraging a one-time investment so that others will not have to develop and maintain these capabilities on their own. We aggregate capital and technology, and apply them to meet social needs.
Our Philosophy is to provide "Open Services"
that leverage technological capabilities from multiple sources. Stargazer
believes in "one investment to benefit many." Stargazer makes
these Open Services, which are developed by us or by our technology partners,
available at no or low cost so that many people who might not otherwise
have access can share in the benefits.
Our History is rich with success, through many changes of course and application of new technologies. Originally founded in 1999 to help others improve learning processes, after 9/11 Stargazer shifted its focus to address unmet needs related to emergency preparedness and disaster response. Increasingly, the services developed for safety are being applied in schools and other educational settings, thus bringing Stargazer back to its roots.
Our Team is small and agile, and led by
our founder, Arthur Bushkin. Although the original vision has changed with time and events, the Stargazer team continues to creatively apply technology to meet compelling needs of families, groups, businesses and communities. |
